Recap of Saline win over Ypsilanti Lincoln 38-7 (Story)

The stands on both sides of the field at Ypsilanti-Lincoln were packed full of people anxious to watch Lincoln take on Saline.

Saline stepped on the gas early. They opened the scoring with a 44 yard touchdown run by Brendan Munday with 9:27 to play in the 1st quarter. Saline was dominating the line of scrimmage on both ends, leading to another score less than a minute later. Saline’s MJ Griffin scampered for 15 yards and a touchdown giving his team a 14-0 lead. The Hornets added a field goal by JT Turner with 3:40 left in the 1st.

While it looked like a blowout was ensuing early, Lincoln fought back in the 2nd quarter. Their shifty running back, Trevon Davis, started finding open space and helped the Railsplitters move the ball. Their quarterback, Ethan Rose, scampered for a touchdown to cut the lead to 17-7. But Saline had an answer. Anthony Ferrari, a sophomore quarterback, hit MJ Griffin for a 25 yard touchdown with 5:56 to go in the 2nd. Saline’s Brendan Munday ran 22 yards for his second touchdown on the day, and gave the Hornets a 31-7 halftime lead.

The pace of the game slowed in the second half as both teams struggled to find the end zone. Tough and physical defenses, combined with drive killing mistakes, made scoring difficult for both teams. The first and only score in the second half came with 8:31 to play. Saline senior Hayden Scott pounded the ball in the end zone for a 1 yard score. It gave the Hornets a 38-7 lead. That score would hold till the final second ticked off. Saline picked up their second win in a row, moving to 2-1. Lincoln also moved to 2-1 with their first defeat.
