Division 6 State Championship Overview: Ithaca returns to Division 6 after being in Division 5 last year. Ithaca won the state title in 2015 while Lumen Christi won it in 2016, so with the two top teams in the past and present in Division 6 set to face off, look for a great game.

State Finals history:

Ithaca had the 13th longest winning streak all-time with 69 straight wins, they won Division 6 titles in 2010-2013 and 2015.

Lumen Christi after a 7 year hiatus last season from being in the state finals beat Glen Lake in 2016 in Division 6. In 2009, 2004, 2003, 2001, and 2000 Lumen Christi won Division 5 titles and lost in 2005 and 2007. In 1996 Lumen Christi beat Belding for a Class B title, and they also won the inaugural Class B titles in 1977 and 1979.

Last weeks predictions: 1-1 (11-7 Overall in Division 6)

Breakdown: Ithaca and Lumen Christi are set to square off in one of the most intriguing games across the board this weekend and it will take place right after Franklin and De La Salle in Division 2. Lumen Christi uses a balanced attack that has outscored other high-powered offenses the past 2 weeks and during the season. Ithaca is fresh off of two huge wins at Montague and St. Francis which should have them prepared for anything.

Prediction: Ithaca 24-20

Explanation: Ithaca head coach Terry Hessbrook molded Ithaca into a program that will not back down from anyone and no matter the adversity, Ithaca will be ready for Lumen Christi's top weapon Sebastian Toland, who was a stud at Jackson high before coming to Lumen Christi this year. The transfer has sent Jackson from being a contender to not even making the playoffs while Toland replaced all-state RB Bo Bell and Lumen Christi hasn't skipped a beat. This game is obviously a toss-up between two great programs.
