Best Win: Watervliet over Fennville 53-51
This is the best win of the season for a Southwest Michigan team. Watervliet was (2-19) the year before Dan Hoff took over. Last season in Hoff’s first year they improved to (7-14). Watervliet was led by Andrew Chisek with 22 points and Brennan Bornas with 11 points, 8 assists.
Next Best: Three Rivers over Paw Paw 59-51
Three Rivers and their star senior forward Isaiah Moore got off to a slow start trailing 20-6 after the first quarter. The early deficit didn’t deter the Wildcats at all as they outscored Paw Paw 22-5 in the second quarter to take control of the game. Isaiah Moore played fantastic down the stretch finishing with 19 points.
Game I Attended: Three Rivers 59, Paw Paw 51
Last night's game was pivotal in the Wolverine Conference race. Paw Paw most likely needed to win out for a chance at the title due to Edwardsburg sitting undefeated currently. Paw Paw got off to a hot 10-2 start and held a 20-6 lead after one quarter led by 9 points from Finlay Tate. Three Rivers flipped the script in the second quarter with stifling defense holding Paw Paw to 5 total points. On the offensive end Andrew Brown thrived scoring 6 points reaching the free throw line twice. At the half we had a ballgame with Three Rivers leading 28-25. Mitchell Mason attempted to will Paw Paw to a victory with 3 three pointers in the third quarter, tying the game at 41 after three quarters. With just over five minutes remaining the game was tied at 45. After that point Paw Paw extremely struggled to knock down the threes they excel at. Three Rivers senior forward Isaiah Moore started to dominate scoring 10 points in the quarter leading his Wildcats to victory. Moore only scored 4 points in the first half and finished with a game-high 19 points. Angelo Hausmanis added 14 points for Three Rivers while Andrew Brown chipped in 10 points. Paw Paw was led by Finlay Tate and Mitchell Mason both with 17 points apiece.
