Cass Tech grad Donovan Peoples-Jones was traded to the Detroit Lions from the Cleveland Browns just before the NFL trade deadline on 10/31/2023 for a 2025 6th round pick.

"DPJ" was also given the nickname in high school, "The Freak" played in 50 games the past 4 seasons for the Cleveland Browns and he spent his college time at the University of Michigan.

Peoples-Jones has 117 career receptions, 1,837 yards and 8 touchdowns.

He can return kickoffs and punts as well. He has 1 NFL career punt return.

With Marvin Jones retiring, Peoples-Jones provides the Lions with a well-rounded skill-set and still has the potential to be a key target behind Amon-Ra St. Brown.

"He brings versatility. He's a big guy, he's got good contested catch skills, he can play outside, he can play inside," Holmes said. "He's a very smart player, he's been very, very durable. He fits everything that we're about. So, I think he'll fit in just fine. He's another flavor that we're adding to our mix. So, it's a lot of things that he can do for us."

"We feel like he fits our style and he's smart and he can play multiple positions. He plays everything for them out there," Lions coach Dan Campbell said. "So, we just feel like he'll be a good fit for the team and the room."
